Pikemen by Nurglitch Pikemen by Nurglitch
Vivat Vasa 2006, a reenactment of baroque battle between the Poles and the Swedes. My commander was in the thick of it so I could use his Canon 350D.

350D + 75-300 USM III.

This shot shows a formation of pikemen, screening the musketeers from any infantry or cavalry charge.

"Give them nothing! But take from them - everything" :D

By the way, I've noticed your nationality. You wouldn't have access to the XVIIc German pike&musket drill, now would you? My google-fu has failed and I can't find the German commands anywhere.

"and shows them no Mercy!"

Do you think Drill comandos in the 30. years war? I dont no, but it give many German comandos, like Forward, Line, fire
and Chaaaarge!!

Sadly, the XVIIc period is not my time.

Around that time, yes. Anything between 1600 and 1650 would be fine.

I could get the modern commands translated or look them up in any modern drill, but I'm wondering if authentic German drill survived.

Thanks anyway :}

Great picture! It reminds me an old tv movie with Sean Bean called "my kingdom for a horse". The main character is an history teacher who spends his weekend as a pikeman, in historical reenactment.
